Horses are not a native species to North America: they were brought over with the conquistadors that conquered the Native American cultures. Therefore, horses are an introduced species because they were introduced to this continent.

A frond is a wide leaf like on a fern or in the tree in the back ground that is divided into many sections.

The leaves in the middle ground stuck out to me in that they were wider than the other leaves around them. The width of the leaves would be an adaptation of a plant in that the extra wide leaves would allow for more sunlight to be obsorbed in densely vegetated areas.

Rice is a C3 plant in that its first organic product of carbon fixation is a three-carbon compound. The initial fixation of carbon occurs by rubisco (it adds carbon dioxide to ribulose bisphosphate.)

Soybeans are another example of a C3 plant in that they produce a three-carbon compound as the first product of carbon fixation. Also, the stomata of the plant closes during the day and reopens at night to reduce waterloss.

I had to tear the petals off the flower to see the ovary better, but even then it's really hard to see because the zoom isn't wonderful. The flower ovary is part of the carpel, or female part of the flower, where an egg-containing structure keeps the female gametophyte.

The stigma and style of the carpel are not easily seen, but the stigma is the sticky part on the top of the long tubular thing called the style. The style connects the stigma to the ovary of the flower. The stigma traps pollen grains.

This dog, although contorted, demonstrates bilateral symmetry in that if you drew a line down the middle of him, both sides would be equal but opposite.
