The last part of the hot zone was quite different from the rest of the book. It is about how the author went to Kitum Cave himself to check things out. I wasn’t expecting him to go and don’t really understand why he went since he wasn’t looking for the viruses. i guess its nice to go explore nature like that but i thought it was strange that he knew he was risking his life to explore the cave. it was interesting to learn about how kitum cave was carved by elephants. i never knew they went into caves to obtain salt. The ending kind of leaves you hanging because even though the filo viruses are out of sight in the U.S. we know that it is still hiding somewhere in the african rainforest. also, no cure was developed whatsoever and the source of the virus remains a mystery.
