This part of the book scared me! I don’t do well with scary situations and getting to hear the story of Charles Monet and how he went from perfectly healthy to a graphic and bloody death days later kinda made me paranoid. Oddly enough I couldn’t put this book down.  I was interested in the effects this virus had on humans.  My favorite part of part 1 is listening to Charles Monet’s story and his trip to Nairobi Hospital.  I could not imagine sitting next to a man who was vomiting blood with black specks. I guess I would be a good doctor because I would never have gotten close to this man.  Nancy Jaxx is a brave sole, but I would never go to her work with a severe cut on my hand. What was it that Monet touched that exposed him to the virus?
